reasons why i love my job(s)

(SpEd para, ass't swim coach, house/pet sitter)

1. the kids make me laugh nearly every day, even when they're being annoying as hell.
2. the ones that pay attention, make progress & succeed (and sometimes recognize/appreciate my help in the process) are the ones who remind me why i do what i do.
3. if nobody needs help with assignments or studying, i get to read, work on my hmwk, or just chill for a little bit - and continue to get paid!
4. i get to explain the butterfly stroke to 7-10 year olds in terms of zombie arms + karate bow - creative, visual, differentiated instruction in real life.
5. i work 5 days/wk, relatively standard hours (but get off earlier in the afternoon), and have holidays/breaks and the summers off - WOOT.
6. passing on my passions to others ensures that there are other "nerds" out there like me :)
7. taking care of someone else's house and furry families allows me to try out different living experiences, decors, and locations so when i'm ready for my own place, i know what i like and don't like.
8. sitting jobs allow me to pick and choose when/where i work, but gain some tax-free cash on the side.
9. some houses have amenities i don't have at home - beach access, hot tubs, etc.
10. sometimes, REALLY cute guys work out while i'm coaching...eye candy during practice is a major plus when kids are being obnoxious and not following directions.
11. i occasionally get hit up to proctor standarized tests for college prep on my wknds...annoying, but also a way to get paid to sit & do hmwk.
12. my supervising teachers are extraordinary role models: family-centered, calm and peaceful, genuinely kind and caring...they demonstrate the qualities that i strive to emulate to be a better person.
13. i get to meet all sorts of people, whether they be parents, clients, students, etc.
14. every day is different, there is no such thing as "boring" in my world.
15. if i haven't said it before, i'll say it again - my coworkers are AWESOME!!
